NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Hundreds of thousands of people in Louisiana rely on snap benefits to feed their families, and many of them reside in New Orleans.
When SNAP benefits were cut Nov. 1, life became drastically more difficult for them.
"Oh, it's really, really bad because now, Where you could go to the store and buy what you want, now you got to think about well how am I going to scrap and feed all these people in this house?" Treme resident Doretha Augustus said.
Thankfully, there are some in the city, like the folks at Kermit's Mother-In-Law Lounge in Treme looking to help.
They say throughout the month of November, they will be giving out food to those in need.
