YOUNGSTOWN Mahoning County Children Services celebrated "National Adoption Month" on Monday.
According to the National Adoption Day website , the grassroots efforts are aimed at raising awareness of the more than 100,000 children waiting to be adopted across the United States.
During the event, the website indicated that more than 400 communities host events like this, and over 90,000 children have been recognized across the country moving from foster care to a permanent family.
Mahoning County Children Services currently has 22 children seeking adoptive families, according to a news release outlining the celebration.
