ALTO, Texas — The Alto City Council unanimously approved taking immediate action Monday night to replace two water pumps that city officials said are not operating properly, posing an "imminent threat to public health and safety" if left unfixed
During the emergency meeting, council members voted to authorize emergency repairs and purchases to restore the city’s water system to state-required pressure levels.
Two pumps, located near FM 752, have been manually reset several times a day to keep water flowing. Councilman Luke Johnson said the decision was a proactive step to address aging equipment before it led to larger issues.
“It’s mostly about being proactive after seeing something that was showing signs of an issue,” Johnson said. “We just want to make sure everyone has the service
