NORTHEAST, Wis. (WBAY) - Rising costs and lapses in those benefits are putting added strain on Wisconsin families.

Humane societies across our area say they are seeing an increase in demand for resources like pet food pantries to help keep pets at home, but it’s not always enough.

Across Wisconsin, humane societies are seeing more pets come through their doors.

“It’s been a lot across the state. We’ve seen a huge number of cat intakes and that’s really every shelter, so, for some reason, this year has been quite the year, especially for cats,” Corey Viars with Wisconsin Humane Society Green Bay said.

Families are facing an increasing number of financial struggles, making it difficult to care for pets.
