A derailed train that continues to cause disruption on the railways has been removed from the tracks where it came off in Cumbria. The early morning Avanti West Coast service from Glasgow to London Euston derailed at around 6.10am on Monday (November 4).

Eighty-seven people, including 10 members of staff, were on board the when it came off the tracks near the village of Shap . Four people suffered minor injuries but no one required further hospital treatment after all passengers and staff were safely evacuated.

An investigation into the cause of the 80mph crash which followed a 'suspected landslip' in the area was launched immediately.
