Motorists and anyone else daring to venture out today are being warned by forecasters to be prepared for heavy rain over most of the next 24 hours.
A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office this morning covering most of southern Cornwall and Devon and encompassing all of Plymouth.
The heaviest rain is expected to strike at around 9am today. The forecast is for heavy rain all day in Plymouth until 8pm, when showers should become lighter. However, light rain is then forecast all the way through the night until 9am tomorrow morning (Wednesday).
A spokesperson for the Met Office warned motorists of "surface water flooding and travel disruption" being possible later today "with southerly winds strengthening". This evening's forecast is said to be "wet and windy" with "heavy
