If you’ve lived in Santa Fe for a significant amount of time, and even if you’re not an artist, chances are you’ve had reason to stop in at Artisan/Santa Fe, the art supplies store at 2601 Cerrillos Road.

Artisan has been around since 1975 at various locations around the city and state, but the Cerrillos Road store — now the only surviving entity in the once-sprawling company empire — has been the flagship since it opened in 2001.

As I explain in a story on the business page of today’s edition of The New Mexican , owners Paul Bell and Diane Otero-Bell, a husband-and-wife team, are celebrating the store’s golden anniversary in early November with a series of events and promotions designed to thank Artisan customers for their loyalty and patronage.
