**Tragic Birthday Hike Ends in Heartbreak for British Family**

A British father has died following a tragic incident while hiking in Sri Lanka to celebrate his daughter's birthday. The 63-year-old man collapsed at the summit of Ella Rock, a popular hiking destination in the south of the country, on October 25.

The father and his daughter, who was celebrating her 34th birthday, embarked on the challenging climb, which is known to take several hours. After reaching the top, the man suddenly lost consciousness, prompting immediate action from those nearby.

Local police reported that he was quickly transported to Bandarawela Hospital. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived. An autopsy later confirmed that he had suffered a heart attack.

The father and daughter had arrived in Sri Lanka on October 16. Their trip included visits to the coastal town of Weligama before they made their way to Ella Rock for the birthday celebration. The family is now mourning the loss of a beloved member during what was meant to be a joyful occasion.
