The avalanche hit the base camp on Monday morning, but snowstorms delayed rescue efforts. Improving weather allowed a helicopter to reach the site on Tuesday. Four injured climbers have been flown to Kathmandu for treatment. Among the survivors is Isabelle Solange Thaon, who lost her husband in the avalanche. Two Nepali mountain guides are confirmed dead, while the identities of the remaining victims are unclear. At least three bodies have been recovered so far.
