Although dementia can affect people from any background, Alzheimer’s Research UK says that “Vulnerable individuals face increased dementia risk due to lifelong exposure to risk factors, compounded by poverty and ethnicity”.
They called for a cross-government strategy to help reduce air pollution, tackle high blood pressure, and promote healthy eating, among other changes.
But new research has suggested that another form of inequality, related to time itself, could increase your dementia risk.
Associate Professor Susanne Röhr, lead author of the paper published in Lancet Healthy Longevity , said : “What we call ‘time poverty’... is a hidden barrier to dementia risk reduction”.
