Dick Cheney, the former vice president under George W. Bush who -- as USA TODAY wrote -- was "a chief architect of the war in Iraq after the 9/11 terrorist attacks," died on Monday at the age of 84.
"Dick Cheney was a great and good man who taught his children and grandchildren to love our country, and to live lives of courage, honor, love, kindness, and fly fishing," read a statement from his family. "We are grateful beyond measure for all Dick Cheney did for our country. And we are blessed beyond measure to have loved and been loved by this noble giant of a man.”
So how did the former politician die? Per that statement and the Associated Press, it was due to "complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease."
