John Lennon had a brutal response to a suggestion from Paul McCartney

John Lennon delivered a harsh two-word dismissal when Sir Paul McCartney proposed a "desperate" strategy for The Beatles. This occurred as the iconic rock group was approaching their dissolution in 1970.

The bassist Paul reportedly wanted the band to return to performing at small independent music venues. However, John seemed far from enthusiastic about the proposal.

In conversation with The I newspaper, Paul remembered: "John looked me in the eye and said: 'You're daft.'"

Twelve months later, the musician had established Wings alongside wife Linda, drummer Denny Seiwell and bassist Denny Laine. With Wings, Paul discovered an absence of conflicting opinions, enabling him to exchange stadiums for students' unions.
