Letter: Fedorchak needs better understanding of Medicaid

Ireceived Fedorchak’s email about the shutdown and Democrats wanting to “open the door” to millions of illegal immigrants getting Medicaid.

Either Fedorchak doesn’t know much about Medicaid — which would be understandable for a first-term representative — but we expect her (with the help of her colleagues and staff and expertise from North Dakota DHHS) to have access to facts and to be able to tell the actual truth.

According to the news article she claimed that states who have provided Medicaid to immigrants who are not eligible under federal law are reimbursed by the federal government. That is ONLY for emergency and acute care. Emergency and acute care account for 5% of healthcare spending.
