CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - A Stark County Grand Jury indicted a Canton pastor in connection with the death of a child whom he allowed to ride outside of a motor vehicle.
Rushon Patterson was indicted on the charges of reckless homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and riding on the outside of a vehicle.
The incident happened on Sept. 9.
Patterson allegedly allowed a 14-year-old boy to ride on the outside of a Ford van, owned by Alive Now Church, which Patterson was operating.
The victim was identified by his mother as Malachi Nichols-Williams.
Pamela Nichols said her son was devoted to his faith and wanted to grow up to be a police officer and pastor.
A staffer at the church confirmed to 19 News that Patterson is a pastor there and victim was also a member of the church.
