GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Polls are now open in South Carolina. Election leaders say it’s a day when voter turnout tends to be low but the stakes are high for many communities.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Voters will need to bring a photo ID when heading to the polls to cast their ballots.

BIG RACES

Greenville County House District 21

One of the biggest races is a special runoff election in Greenville County.

Steve Nail and Dianne Mitchell are facing off to be the next state representative for District 21 which covers the eastern side of Greenville County, including Greer to Five Forks.

The seat opened up when Bobby Cox stepped down.
