Hamilton Accies have announced Jock Brown has stepped down as chairman of the club due to health reasons. ‌

The 79-year-old has been at the helm during a turbulent and trying time for the club, amid a series of SPFL sanction for rule breaches which led to their relegation from the Championship last season. ‌

He also oversaw the club's controversial move away from the town last season, moving to Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld after a fallout with the owners of New Douglas Park. ‌

And the club say the stress and demands of the last several month has taken its toll on his health, leading to his decision to step down.

The move also comes with Accies in the throes of a takeover from a consortium of businessmen. It is understood the proposed takeover is still ongoing,
