QUINCY (WGEM) - The Quincy City Council amended their budget to allocate funds to the Quincy Fire Department for a new truck.

On Monday, the Quincy City Council agreed to allocate funds from their fiscal year budget to the Quincy Fire Department. The department plans on using the funds to buy a new firetruck.

“It is a bright, shiny firetruck, but at the end of the day, it helps us serve the citizens as efficiently and in the best that we can,” QFD Chief Deputy Brad Kendrick said.

The cost for the new ladder truck will cost around $1.5 million according to Kendrick. He said the need for the truck came after an annual check of their current truck showed mechanical issues.
