Pune[India]: Forest officials on Tuesday morning captured a leopard in Shirur tehsil of Pune district, two days after a 13-year-old boy was killed in an attack.
The operation took place in the same locality where the fatal attack occurred, officials said. However, it is still not confirmed whether the captured leopard is the same one responsible for the teenager’s death and two other recent attacks in the region.
Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik said the captured feline is likely to be moved to the Vantara rehabilitation facility in Jamnagar, Gujarat. “We are ensuring the animal is safely relocated while investigations continue,” the minister said.
