LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Mayor Andy Schor announced that the City of Lansing will contribute $10,000 to the Greater Lansing Food Bank to help provide food assistance to local families affected by ongoing federal funding delays.
The city’s funding will allow the food bank to serve roughly 200 additional families during two upcoming drive-thru mobile food distributions.
City officials did not specify where the funding is coming from.
“So many Lansing families rely on supplemental food assistance through the SNAP program. I am ordering the release of this funding to boost the amount of food that will be distributed and help get meals into the homes of 200 additional families in our city,” said Mayor Andy Schor. “Until the federal government releases all emergency funding as ordered, or the
