There are high stakes in this election.

Mayor Aftab Pureval is trying to get re-elected as controversy erupts over the city placing its police chief on leave. Republican candidate Cory Bowman is trying to unseat Pureval, alleging the situation involving police chief Terri Theetge is a political scapegoating by city leaders. Bowman has also criticized the current policing plan, saying it has allowed for lawlessness in areas like downtown and Over-the-Rhine, but he voiced support for the collaborative agreement when challenged by Pureval.
