North Bay taxpayers spent more than $23,000 on the investigation into the mayor’s corporate credit card.

Deputy City Clerk Véronique Hie stated in a city report that the city expended $23,102.85 (including the city’s portion of HST) up to and including Oct. 1.

Each year, the city budgets $75,000.00 for investigations made by the integrity commissioner.

Guy Giorno, the city’s integrity commissioner, reported his opinion last week that North Bay Mayor Peter Chirico contravened the Code of Conduct.

On June 26, 2025, Giorno received a complaint under the Code of Conduct.

Giorno found that $17,253.01 that the mayor has already reimbursed; he found Code of Conduct breaches in relation to $5,557.77 of these expenses, and he has not found breaches in relation to $11,695.24
