A local fitness center will be holding an annual fundraiser for a scholarship that was created to honor a fallen Marion County detective.

The 4th annual "The Blansett" will be held at MaxFit’s Kimball location on Saturday, November 8 at 8:00am.

The event raises money for a scholarship that was founded following the death of Marion County Sheriff’s Department Detective Matt Blansett in 2022 and is open to anyone who wants to participate.

The cost is:

$10 for the event

$25 for the event and t-shirt

$15 for only a t-shirt

All of the money raised will go to the Matt Blansett Scholarship.

Blansett was killed at age 40 on August 23, in a helicopter crash that happened during an air search with the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP)for homegrown marijuana.
