In a breakthrough against major online fraud, the cybercrime police station, Chandigarh, has arrested two suspects from Rajasthan for their alleged involvement in a so-called “digital arrest” scam, in which a city woman was duped of Rs 15 lakh.
The case was registered on April 16, at the cybercrime police station in Sector 17, Chandigarh . The operation was led by Geetanjali Khandelwal, SP (Cyber), under the supervision of A Venkatesh, DSP (Cyber Crime & IT), and Inspector Eram Rizvi, SHO, cybercrime police station.
The accused have been identified as Poonam Chand (29) and Jai Parkash (21), both being from Phalodi district in Rajasthan.
According to police, the victim, Sunita of Chandigarh, had received a call from individuals posing as officials of a courier company and the narcotics
