Students queued outside polling booths on Tuesday at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus as sounds of drums and slogans raised by students filled the air.
By evening, the university had recorded a 67 per cent voter turnout — slightly lower than the turnout of 70 per cent in the previous election and down from the decade-high of 73 per cent recorded in 2023–2024.
The student union elections will decide the new central panel of the JNU Students’ Union (JNUSU) and 42 school councillors. Polling began at 9 am and continued till 6.30 pm, with a brief break in the afternoon. The results are expected on Thursday, according to the election committee.
