Alberta deputy government house leader Dan Williams pushed back on Monday against a relatively rare point of privilege raised by former cabinet minister Peter Guthrie against government house leader Joseph Schow.

Independent MLA Guthrie raised the point of privilege on the floor of the assembly last Thursday, claiming Schow had informed him the previous evening that he was being placed on the standing committee on private bills without “consultation, notice, or consent.”

Schow was not in the assembly on Monday having departed Friday for a trip to the United Arab Emirates and is not scheduled to return to Alberta until Sunday.
