Someone found racist graffiti near the Magical Bridge Playground in Palo Alto over the weekend, and police are investigating it as a hate crime.
A witness called to report graffiti targeting African Americans at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the playground at 3700 Middlefield Road.
Officers arrived to find the racial epithets scrawled on a sidewalk in spray paint and called in the city’s Public Works Department to remove it, police said Monday.
Police said they don’t have any suspect information and don’t know when the graffiti was written but also said there have been no other similar reports recently.
Anyone with information can call the Palo Alto dispatch center at (650) 329-2413. Anonymous tips can be sent via text message or voice mail to (650) 383-8984, or submitted using the “Tip
