The first of several potential New Orleans Saints trade deadline dominoes fell Tuesday, when the team sent wide receiver Rashid Shaheed to the Seattle Seahawks, a league source confirmed.
In return for Shaheed, the Saints received fourth and fifth round picks.
Shaheed's name has been floated on the rumor mill for weeks leading up to Tuesday's NFL trade deadline. The 27-year-old former undrafted free agent was in the final year of his contract, and at 1-8, the Saints are seeking building blocks for the future.
With Seattle, Shaheed reunites with former Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who took the same role with the Seahawks this offseason after a regime change in New Orleans.
Shaheed has appeared in all nine games for the Saints this season, catching 44 passes for 499 yard
