No. 6 Gila Ridge junior quarterback Isaac Soliz had his best performance yet to close out the regular season, ending the Hawks' 10-game campaign with a showing worthy of Athlete of the Week honors.
Soliz completed 17 of his 21 attempts on Friday in a 45-0 rout of rival Cibola at Veterans Memorial Stadium, throwing for 326 yards and four touchdowns. It was his most efficient day of his career with at least 10 completions, as well as a career-high in passing yards.
While Gila Ridge's success this season is a major point of pride for head coach Jessica Slaughter, the ultimate catalyst for the Hawks has been Soliz.
