Part of a Hollywood dynasty has left us.

Three-time Oscar and Emmy nominee Diane Ladd, mother of actress Laura Dern and ex-wife of actor Bruce Dern, has died at the age of 89, according to AP.

A native of Laurel, Miss., Ladd was a versatile thespian, playing everything from the foul-mouthed and funny waitress in Martin Scorsese’s Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore to the devious parent in David Lynch’s Wild At Heart .

She was the only child of veterinarian Preston Paul Ladner and actress Mary Bernadette Ladner and shortened her last name to Ladd when she began her career, according to PEOPLE .

Her death was announced Monday by Laura Dern, 58, who issued a statement saying her mother died at her home in Ojai, Calif., with her at her side.
