A woman accused of killing a man at the ilani hotel by poisoning his drink with fentanyl has been ordered to be held in jail without bail.

Raylin M. Benzie, 34, appeared Monday in Clark County Superior Court on allegations of first-degree murder, controlled substance homicide, placing poison or other harmful substance in a drink, first-degree robbery and second-degree theft.

Benzie is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 7.

Police had been investigating the alleged homicide for almost a month before arresting Benzie on Oct. 31 in Vancouver on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle.

At 1:49 p.m. on Oct. 5, the Cowlitz Tribal Police Department responded to a reported death at an ilani hotel room and discovered a man, identified only as Arslan in a probable cause affidavit, dead at the scene.
