CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio — In response to the federal government shutdown and the suspension of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, the Cuyahoga Falls City Council approved an emergency allocation of $51,114 to support the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
The funding, approved on Monday, November 3, 2025, is intended to help local families facing increased food insecurity.
The emergency allocation equates to about $1 per Cuyahoga Falls resident, highlighting the city’s commitment to assisting vulnerable residents during the nationwide crisis.
“The stoppage of SNAP benefits affecting 41 million Americans, including more than 77,000 residents here in Summit County, will remove over $15 million a month in grocery purchasing power locally," said Dan Flowers, President & CE
