Jonathan Bailey has been named People magazine's 2025 Sexiest Man Alive. The announcement was made on Monday, just ahead of the release of the second chapter of "Wicked," in which Bailey stars.
The 37-year-old actor expressed his excitement about the title, calling it "a huge honor." In an interview, he said, "Obviously I’m incredibly flattered. And it’s completely absurd. It’s been a secret, so I’m quite excited for some friends and family to find out."
Bailey, known for his roles in "Bridgerton" and "Fellow Travelers," humorously revealed that he had only shared the news with his dog, Benson. "I told my dog Benson. … But no, I haven’t. How do you spell … NDA?" he joked.
He succeeds John Krasinski, who held the title in 2024. Bailey is preparing for the release of "Wicked: For Good," which hits theaters on November 21. In this film, he reprises his role as Fiyero, alongside Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
The upcoming film is generating Oscar buzz, especially following the first installment's ten nominations, which included Best Picture, Best Actress for Erivo, and Best Supporting Actress for Grande. The first film won two Oscars for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.
Bailey's recognition as Sexiest Man Alive marks the 40th anniversary of the franchise, which began in 1985 with Mel Gibson as the inaugural honoree.
As Bailey prepares for the next chapter in his career, he remains a prominent figure in both theater and film, with fans eagerly anticipating his upcoming projects.
