Hospitals across Baltimore are seeing an increase in patients but cannot point to a particular illness as the cause.

WBAL-TV 11 News visited Union Memorial Hospital on the recent uptick seen in the city. Hospitals across Baltimore are packed even though respiratory illnesses are still relatively low. Dr. Sharon Swencki is an emergency medicine physician at Medstar Health

"Right now, all the hospitals are actually quite full and we're seeing a lot of hospitals having to go on diversion or just being at max capacity," Swencki said.

She said the late-summer COVID-19 rise has tapered off and hospitals are not seeing a spike in respiratory illnesses, but the emergency room has been full.
