U.S. House Rep. Jeff Hurd (R-Grand Junction), who represents Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, joined House representatives from both parties Monday in introducing principles to extend and reform Affordable Care Act (ACA) Enhanced Premium Tax Credits.
Hurd joined Don Bacon (R-Nebraska), Tom Suozzi (D-New York) and Josh Gottheimer (D-New Jersey) for principles focused on a temporary extension with “reasonable income caps and reform.”
The principles include:
A two-year extension of enhanced premium tax credits;
An income cap phased out between $200,000-400,000;
Requirements that ACA marketplaces confirm recipient eligibility with the Death Master File;
The establishment of a “preponderance of evidence” standard of proof to determine when an agent or broker should be allowed to con
