LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - As federal health officials continue to investigate a listeria outbreak across the country, authorities say seven new illnesses have been reported.
The outbreak is tied to a recall of prepared pasta meals sold in stores across the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC is reporting a total of 27 people across 18 states have become infected, though numbers are likely higher, officials said.
The latest update from the CDC says one person in Michigan has died due to listeria linked to the outbreak. At least two other people in the state have fallen ill, according to the CDC.
