A boy’s false threats of mass shootings at St. Mary’s High School in Kitchener left students, parents and staff feeling “fear, shock and anger,” court was told.

Last year from May to October, the boy made or directed others to make a dozen swatting calls to 911. This included four false reports of planned shootings at St. Mary’s.

The first call, on May 29, shut down the school for two days. Two other calls were made in June and one in September.

The Kitchener boy, 15, pleaded guilty to public mischief and making threats. He was sentenced on Tuesday to a six-month deferred custody and supervision order. He will be confined to his house with some exceptions.
