WASHINGTON — U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, at a news conference about Pennsylvania’s mass transit issues on Tuesday, warned of “mass chaos” at airports and flight delays that he said were only one week away because of the ongoing federal government shutdown.

While airport operations, including those at Pittsburgh International Airport, have largely been normal for the first month of the shutdown, air traffic controllers are set to miss a second and much-needed full paycheck on Thursday, Mr. Duffy said.
