GRAND FORKS — When UND fifth-year senior Jadyn Keeler arrived in Grand Forks from Barrie, Ontario, the Fighting Hawks were no longer coached by the staff in which she was recruited.

Her recruiting period was done over Zoom video chats amid the COVID-19 pandemic. She didn't visit any schools in-person during recruiting.

The UND coaching staff five years ago at her arrival was headed by an emergency appointee in athletics administrator Kyle Doperalski.

Keeler started with a program on uncertain footing and will leave it in a place Fighting Hawks coach Tom Scott hopes is the start of a dominant era for the program.

Keeler capped her UND cross country career last Saturday in Omaha by leading the school to its first Summit League championship in any sport.
