HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - There's no mayoral election in Holyoke as Mayor Joshua Garcia is unopposed for his second term, but city council and school committee races are being voted on Tuesday.
Their citywide race for the city council is contested, with incumbents and challengers vying for seats in the city council at large. There are also contested city council races in wards 1, 3 and 4.
There is only one ward with a contested school committee ballot, that being ward 5, however, there is no candidate whatsoever on the ballot in ward 6, meaning the winner is guaranteed to be a write-in candidate.
Despite there being no mayoral election, voters still think it's important to get out and make their voices heard.
