Flu season has arrived in the Kingston region, according to a media release from Southeast Public Health (SEPH).

Laboratory results have confirmed the first cases of influenza A, and the health unit is encouraging people to begin to take precautions to prevent the spread of seasonal respiratory illnesses.

“Influenza causes mild to severe illness and can lead to serious health complications, even in healthy children and adults,” the release from the health unit stated.

The flu vaccine is available free of charge to individuals six months of age and older who live, work or attend school in Ontario.
