MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (WKYT) — A Rockcastle County man has been arrested after investigators say he neglected an elderly family member in his care.

According to a complaint filed by the Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Rockcastle Regional Hospital after a woman was brought in for treatment. Investigators determined the woman had been living in deplorable conditions at a home in the 200 block of Willow Tree Lane in Mount Vernon.

The complaint says 911 was called for an ambulance to the home. When emergency responders arrived, they found the residence covered in trash and piles of rubbish, with rotting flooring that had holes throughout. The woman was discovered sitting in a reclining chair in the unsanitary conditions.
