Veterans spanning generations — from Vietnam and Desert Storm to Iraq and Afghanistan — filled the Amarillo Civic Center on Saturday, Nov. 1 with families in tow, gathering for a celebration of service, gratitude, and the shared bonds that unite the Panhandle’s veteran community.
The 18th annual Welcome Home Veterans event opened with the presentation of colors by the Cannon Air Force Base Color Guard, followed by applause and reflection from hundreds in attendance. Hosted by the Amarillo VA Health Care System, the event has become one of the region’s most anticipated tributes to those who served, offering connection, appreciation, and access to vital resources under one roof.
