Four intersections along the southwest side of State Loop (SL) 335 will be getting traffic lights at some point in the future to improve safety, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Amarillo office announced Tuesday after study results were finalized.
TxDOT said an extensive signal light warrant study, which was conducted on the southwest corridor of SL 335 around the city of Amarillo, concluded that the intersections of SL 335 at FM 2186, Arden Road, Hillside Road, and 34th Avenue met one or more of the criteria required to install a traffic light. The roads currently in use on the southwest corridor of SL 335 are the frontage roads for the eventual main lanes that will be built in the future.
