No one was catching the Salukis’ senior boys.
St. Marys District Collegiate and Vocational Institute (DCVI), led by a former long-distance star as its head coach, ran to a first-place finish at the provincial cross-country championships this past weekend in Brampton.
“I knew from the start of the season we wanted to medal,” coach Marcel Scheele said. “The way I looked at it is if you’re going to go for a medal, go for first place. You never know until you get there. You’re up against all schools, not just single-A, so you never know.”
