The next leader of the Netherlands will be breaking barriers in several ways: Rob Jetten, the head of the center-left Democrats 66 party, is virtually certain to become the country’s next prime minister after his party won one of the closest elections in Dutch history. Jetten, who will be the Netherlands’ youngest and first openly gay prime minister, will now look to carry D66’s electoral victory toward setting a new political agenda. But the razor-thin election margins means this could be an uphill battle.
