MEDINA, Ohio -- With millions across the country set to miss out on SNAP assistance this month, Feeding Medina County is working to make sure Medina County residents in need will have access to food.
“We planned an emergency food distribution at Buckeye Woods Park for Nov. 4,” said Janet Newcomer, executive director of Feeding Medina County.
“We normally have a food distribution in Lodi on Thursday (Nov. 6), but we thought that was too long for people to wait.”
Newcomer said the organization has witnessed a sharp increase in need over the last week.
“With our emergency walk-in pantry, we typically see three or four families a day and five if we are busy,” Newcomer said Nov. 3.
“Recently, it has been 10 to 11 families, and today we had 28 families.”
With Thanksgiving coming up, Newcom
