MONONA, Wis. (WFRV) - Police in Wisconsin say a 30-year-old man with a violent criminal history was arrested Monday night after a pursuit in an allegedly stolen vehicle.

The Monona Police Department reported that a license plate reader alerted officers to a stolen Buick in the city around 11:18 p.m. on Monday, and an officer spotted the driver going over 60 miles per hour near Monona Drive at Nichols Road.

The officer tried to catch up as the suspect vehicle headed towards U.S. Highway 12, with another officer activating their lights in an attempt to catch up.

The driver reportedly stopped at an off-ramp, and officers ordered him to exit the vehicle at gunpoint; however, he refused to comply, quickly starting the car back up and fleeing. A full pursuit was initiated with limited traffic
