AURORA, Neb. (KSNB) - Nearly two years after the stabbing death of his stepfather, an Aurora man was once again ruled unfit to stand trial for the crime.
Court records show a Hamilton County Judge Lynelle Homolka Tuesday ruled 30-year-old Caleb Arnett incompetent to stand trial and will need more treatment at the Lincoln Regional Center.
His next competency hearing is Jan. 6, 2026.
Arnett is charged with first-degree murder for the stabbing death of his stepfather, Ross Nickolaus, in December 2023. He’s also charged with three counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and two counts of first-degree assault.
Judge Homolka ordered treatment for Arnett in 2024, a few months after the murder. She has ruled on eight other occasions that Arnett is unfit for trial.
