Quebec’s federation of medical students took the Quebec government to Superior Court Tuesday to overturn parts of a provincial law regulating doctors’ working conditions they say infringes on their to speak out.
The court challenge is one protest among a flood of opposition Bill 2 has engendered since the Coalition Avenir Québec government of François Legault invoked closure to force the bill into law on Oct. 25. The Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec (FMSQ) is due in court on Thursday to contest elements of the law, while doctors and students have said they’re considering moving to other provinces to practise or study.
