6 dead, 25 hospitalized from nationwide listeria outbreak linked to prepared pasta meals

Six people have died and 25 others have been hospitalized in a multistate listeria outbreak tied to recalled precooked pasta meals, according to the FDA .

The outbreak, first reported in June, has been traced to pasta supplied by Nate’s Fine Foods, prompting widespread recalls of ready-to-eat dishes sold under major brands at Kroger, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Giant Eagle, and Sprouts.

Cases have been confirmed in 18 states, including California, Florida, Texas, and Virginia.

The FDA urges consumers to check their refrigerators and freezers and throw out any recalled pasta products immediately.
